Christopher Thompson has been charged following an investigation by the Susquehanna Regional Police on July 25, 2023.
The department received a tip about the incident at Donegal High School between a teacher and a student on March 10, 2023.
After numerous interviews, it was determined that the 50-year-old "teacher did make unlawful contact with the student to a degree that warranted charges," the police said.
Thompson has been charged with the following according to the police and faces the following charges:
- Unlawful contact with minor - sexual offense.
- Corruption of minors.
- Indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age.
Thompson was arrested on Tuesday and has been held on $150,000 in bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled in front of Magisterial District Judge Randall Miller for 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
The school has released a statement about Thompson's arrest, reading in part:
"On the afternoon of June 6, 2023, the Susquehanna Regional Police Department shared with the School District the likely prospect that criminal charges may be filed against this teacher in the future. Immediately after learning this information, the School District placed the teacher on administrative leave and restricted the teacher from being on school property. The teacher will remain on administrative leave until the conclusion of this case."
